2 days Birding around Chengdu
For birders who are coming for thorogh Sichuan Bird Tour a few days ahead of departure time
Day 1: Chengdu – Qinglonghu Wetland Park – Dong’an Lake
- Morning:
- Depart from Chengdu in the morning and go to Qinglonghu Wetland Park. As one of the largest urban wetlands in Chengdu, it has a complete wetland ecosystem, which is an ideal starting point for novice bird – watchers.
- The best birding time is from 6:30 to 10:30. You can observe water birds such as Black-headed gulls, ruddy shelducks, and black – tailed godwits, as well as forest birds such as Rinous-throated Parrotbills,Ashy-throated Parrotbills and Chinese Grosbeak.
- Afternoon:
- Have lunch near the park, and then go to Dong’an Lake.
- The lake has a wide water area and a high – quality ecological environment,You can walk along the lakeside path to the open water area near the Torch Tower to watch birds. some generarl species like bulbuls, starlings, magpies, etc.
Day 2: Chengdu – Baigongyan Park – Baihetan National Wetland Park
- Morning:
- Go to Baigongyan Park. There are many birds such as Egrets, Kingfishers, Red – billed Blue magpies, and Cormorants. You can choose a 3 – kilometer mountain forest trail or a 6 – kilometer circular lake route. The mountain forest trail is relatively quiet, and the circular lake route can enjoy the lake view and the birds the same time.
- Afternoon:
- After having lunch, go to Baihetan National Wetland Park. The wetland meadows, pebble beaches, and river sandbars here are important “canteens” and “supply stations” for birds. It is recommended to enter from the main entrance of the park and observe along the wetland trail.
