International flight into Chengdu, arrange birding at city parks accordingly. Night in Chengdu

Drive 4.5 hrs to Tang jia he NNR, birding in the afternoon, species to look for include Tawny Fish Owl, White-crowned Forktail, Brown Dipper, White-throated Dipper, Zappey's Flycatcher,Yellow-bellied Tit,Crested Kingfisher,etc.

All day long birding at Tang jia he NNR. In the early morning, go look for Golden Pheasant, then go higher for White-throated Laughingthrush, quite a few species of Warblers, several species of Parrotbills,etc.

Tang jia he is also a good place to see many mammals, Chinese Takin, Chinese Goral, Chinese Serow, Masked Palm Civet, Hog Badger, Reeve’s Muntjac，Tibetan Macaque，Rhesus Macaque,Golden snub-nosed Monkey, even chances for Giant Panda, etc.

After a final morning, drive to Gong gang ling, where we will try Pere David’s Owl,Chinese Grouse,Crested Tit-Warbler ,Maroon-backed and
Rufous-breasted Accentors, Three-banded Rosefinch, Hodgson’s Treecreeper,Rufous-vented and Grey-crested Tits, Sichuan Leaf Warblers, Goldcrest, Kessler’s (White-backed)and Chestnut Thrushes, Stay over night at Chuan zhu Si

In the morning, we drive back to Gong gang ling again if necessary, then drive to Ruo Er Gai area, birding at Baxi Forest in the afternoon, ‘Blue Eared Pheasant, Snowy-cheeked Laughingthrush, Chinese Grouse, Sichuan Tit, Przevalski’s Nuthatch, we might also see Sichuan Jay, Black Woodpecker, Crested Tit-Warbler ,Plain, Giant and Elliott’s Laughingthrushes ,White-throated and Hodgson’s, White-bellied Redstarts, Rufous-breasted Accentor, Punk-rumped, Himalayan Beautiful and Chinese White-browed Rosefinches, Night at Ruoer gai.

In the morning, we can either go again to the Baxi Valley, to look for species which we still need or go look for Przevalski’s Pinktail, in the afternoon, go nearby the flower lake to see Black-necked Crane, Greylag, Bar-headed Geese, Great Crested ,Black-necked Grebes, Red-crested and Common Pochards, Tufted Duck, Gadwall, Northern Shoveler , Eurasian Teal, Eurasian Bittern, Brown-cheeked Rail, Citrine Wagtail,White-winged, Common and Whiskered Terns, Little Ringed Plover,breeding plumage Lesser Sand Plovers,A few High-plateau specialties: Tibetan Lark, Ground Tit, Black Redstart ,Rufous-necked and White-rumped Snowfinches. some other species possible includes Saker Falcon, Giant Shrike, Eurasian Eagle Owl,ect. can also drive around to search for the Pallas's Cat, Tibetan fox and Grey Walf,Himalayan Marmot, Plateau Pikas.

Another day birding around this area. We plan for 2 days in this area, looking for all the possible birds as well as some high-planteau Mammals.

In the morning, driving slowly to Ma Er Kang, stop on the way for a few species,Przevalski’s Finch, White-browed Tit, White-browed Tit-Warbler,Pere David’ s Laughingthrush,Horned Lark,Daurian Jackdaw,Black-necked Cranes,etc.

Birding at Meng bi Mountain nearby Ma er kang, Blood and White Eared Pheasant,Verreaux’s Monal-Partridge,Sichuan Jay, Crested Tit-Warbler, Black Woodpecker, Three-banded Rosefinch, Przevalski’s Nuthatch, Goldcrest, Rufous-vented, Coal and Grey-crested Tits and Hodgson’s Treecreeper,White-throated Redstart,Collared and White-winged Grosbeaks, Spotted Nutcracker, Chinese Fulvetta, Grey-headed Bullfinch.

Another morning at Meng bi Mountain, then drive to Ba lang Mountain, stop for Hill pigeon and Wallcreeper on the way,Night at Wolong town

Birding at Balangshan, we plan for 2 full days here: Chinese Monal ,White Eared Pheasant. Koklass Pheasant, Blood, Golden Pheasant, Verreaux’s Monal-Partridge, Streaked, Pink-rumped, Common, Dark-breasted and Chinese White-browed ,Sharpe’s Rosefinches, Barred Laughingthrush ,Giant Laughingthrush, Chinese Fulvetta, Fire-capped Tit, White-browed and Golden Bush Robins, Firethroat, Three-banded Rosefinch, Rufous-vented, Sichuan and Grey-crested Tits, Blue-fronted and White-capped Redstarts, Slaty-backed Flycatcher, Rosy Pipit, Chestnut Thrush, Claudia’s, Alpine and Sichuan Leaf Warblers, Golden Eagle, Himalayan Vultures, Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Common Buzzard, Sichuan Treecreeper, Black-browed Bushtit, Sichuan and Alpine Thrushes,Brandt’s and Plain Mountain Finches, Alpine Chough, Snow Pigeon and Alpine Accentor. Slaty Bunting, Near the pass we will look for Tibetan Snowcock, Snow Partridge, Red-fronted Rosefinch(Asia’s highest breeding passerine!), Grandala( These 4 species are now difficult to see here due to the road block and no access to the mountain top for the moment).
