Hello, I’m Steven An, a professional international birding guide and tour leader. I graduated in 2007 with a major in International Tour Guide.
My birding guiding journey started during my university years, when I began leading international birdwatching groups around Poyang Lake. After graduation, I dedicated myself fully to tour guiding. At first, I worked as a cultural tour guide within Jiangxi Province. Among all the destinations in Jiangxi, Poyang Lake welcomes large numbers of birdwatching groups every winter. This experience allowed me to gradually familiarize myself with diverse bird species and accumulate professional field knowledge.
As I led more birding tours, I earned growing recognition from birders. Many birders recommended me to their friends who planned birdwatching trips to China. Starting out from Jiangxi, I have since explored numerous birdwatching hotspots across China over the years.
In addition to inbound tours, I have led Chinese birdwatchers and bird photographers on birding and photography expeditions to over 20 countries worldwide. With years of practical outdoor guiding experience, I have established a reliable reputation in the global birding community.
In 2019, I made the decision to set up my own company, assemble a dedicated professional team, and launch an independent birdwatching tour brand. That was how China Birding Tours came into being.
